The day that was my birthday

Ok, this post is way long overdue...

I didn't have a celebration for my last birthday. I just spent it with Wilson. We strolled around SM Mall of Asia (As what we always do and where we always go *LOL*), then had dinner at UCC Cafe Terrace. I first suggested that we eat at Yakimix but we're not sure if their branch in MOA was already open so we opted for UCC. I honestly thought that it was an American cafe. I was surprised when I found out that it was actually a Japanese cafe. We had for our meal Yakiniku rice, Corned Beef Pizza Toast and Hawaiian Blue Soda. I was supposed to have a strawberry soda but it wasn't available so Wilson gave me his Hawaiian Blue Soda. He had lemon water na lang.

Where we dined

Yakiniku Rice (Sweet and delicious!)
Corned Beef Pizza Toast
Hawaiian Blue Soda

For my gift, he usually doesn't know what to give so he asked me instead. For this occasion, I asked for a wedge choe from wade. When we went to check it out, there was no available stock for my size. He approved of the design but I had to check out other wade branches for my size.

Despite the simpleness of the occasion I was still happy because I spent it with Wilson...:)

You're hired

Yes, after 3 months of sending applications, interviews and exams, I am finally employed! I wouldn't say it's the perfect job but at least it's a job . I wouldn't feel bad anymore now that holiday season is fast approaching. I treat this as a chance to expand my knowledge. To develop my skills. To meet new people. To work in a new environment. There are downsides to the job but that can be arranged depending on my performance of course. So I have to work twice as hard because I still have to review for the board exam. Slowly, I'm making progress..Hopefully, this progress will continue until I reach all my goals..

I had a job but I quit

After a long time of complaining about being unemployed I finally had a job but 2 days later I had to quit. Why? here's the story....

About 2 weeks ago, I received a text message saying that they are in urgent need of a chemist and I was asked to show for an exam and interview. The company is manufacturing jewelleries locally as well as abroad. I was available at that time so I decided to go.

Their office is at New Manila, near St. Luke's Hospital but I was informed that their plant is at Antipolo. Their new plant which is under construction is located at marikina. This is where we're supposed to be assigned. We (me together with other applicants) went through 4 interviews. HR Staff, HR Manager, the operations head (we went to antipolo for this one) and the CEO. The HR informed us that we'll be receiving a call if ever we're hired within that week. That week went by but I never received any call so I decided to apply for another job.

I've gone through with the initial interview for the new job I applied for. I really liked this one and when they said they would call me the following day to schedule me for an interview with the R &D Manager, I was excited and have been anticipating the call the whole day. When the phone rang, i thought it was them but it was the compnay in antipolo asking me to report to their office for a discussion on my employment. A few minutes later, the call from the company that I was waiting for came. The interview was scheduled at 10 AM, my other apponitment (company in antipolo) was at 8 AM. Since I liked the other one better (10 AM appointment) I went there instead. During the interview the other compnay kept on calling. Good thing I had my phone on silent mode. After the interview I went straight to new manila to check out the company's offer. I have to say I was surprised because they already asked me to report the following day. I wasn't even sure I wanted to take the job. I was so confused! I've been crying when I got home. I asked Wilson's opinion and he told me to take the job and see if I will enjoy it.

On my first day, I went first to New Manila to sign the appointment letter, afterwhich, I went straight to Antipolo. I was shocked when the head of operations told me " Actually, wala kang matututunan samin," at that moment I wanted to change my mind. I have no background when it comes to electroplating, it's something I should be trained for. At first, all I did was observed their process. Some were actually the same as the procedure given by their chemical suppliers but there were parts I couldn't understand. How will I be able to teach them the right way when I myself couldn't understand everything.

I still went to work on the second day, and they let me try electroplating some of the jewelleries. I did not like it. Not because it was boring but because it was dangerous! The solution used for gold plating contains cyanide which is a very toxic chemical! The worse thing was they don't use any PPEs. I was very concerned, I don't want to risk my health by exposing myself with that toxic chemical.

The following working day, I texted the HR staff and informed her that I won't be continuing my employment with the company. Now, i'm still waiting for the result on the last job I applied for...Hopefully, I get positive results...:)

Some people are just plain rude

I have treated people the way I wanted to be treated. I keep my composure in situations where I encounter rude, arrogant and self-absorbed people.

Today I encountered one rude individual. My uncle and I bought a few things from the grocery. Before going home we dropped by this bread store. While he was on the counter buying bread I sat down on a chair with all the plastic bags from the grocery when an employee placed a cup of coffee and a brownie on the table. Apparently it was for the [rude] man. He asked me if he could take the table and I said yes..A few seconds later he called my attention and pointed to the sign, which he deliberately placed in front of me, that says for dining customers. I just ignored him, hoping that my uncle would be finished soon because I can't carry all the grocery bags! He called me again and told me that he can't eat while I'm still sitting there! At that point I got irritated but kept my cool. Thank goodness my uncle was done so I quickly stood up and we left.

If we weren't in a hurry I would have told that man that I would dine there and that he had to find another table to eat because I was there first. All I could say after that incident was "Lord bahala ka na sa kanya. Sana maturuan siya ng leksyon."

No matter how great or smart or rich you are you have no right to treat people like that. As the commandment says, Do not do unto others what you do not want others to do unto you.

Disappointed

About a week ago I received a call from one of the companies I applied to. I had to admit going there was exhausting but not at all hard. I arrived there 30 mins before the time required. I went thru four interviews from the HR staff, HR Asst. Manager, Operations Manager and the Ink Manager before finally asked to take their exam. The exam was sooo long. It was already 6 PM and we (other applicants) still had not finished it. We were asked to return on the weekend to continue the exam. But before leaving the Plant we were assured by the HR Asst Manager that we're all qualified. The only thing that they need to discuss was the position that they will give us. The exam was for formality only.

They scheduled the continuation of our exam on a weekend. I was also expecting to know what our position would be. Again, we had to wait until 6 PM only to find out that they were still in the process of deciding whether or not to give us the job.

I was so disappointed. Although, i'm not really 100% sure that I will like the job due to its location and shifting schedule, I still expected that I will start this September. Now I have to start looking again. Hopefully, I can find something sooner before depression kicks in....

Useless

I've been out of work for more than 2 months now and I feel so useless. I have been sending applications thru jobstreet and jobsdb but I haven't received any feedbacks yet. I'm bored out of my wits here at home. I have a gazillion things I wanted to do but worrying about my application prevents me from doing anything. My boyfriend thinks I have no plans for my future because i'm stuck at home doing absolutely nothing. I was hurt but I know he was right.

Honestly, I am scared. I do have plans for my future but I don't know where to start. Whenever I hear someone make a comment about my life (negative ones), instead of proving them wrong, I ended up proving they were right.

I am so depressed. I cried myself to sleep almost every night. I am trying to think of happy thoughts to get me through the day but there aren't too many.

I have been praying, asking for guidance and strength that I can survive this. I hope I can survive this....

July 25, 2009

This is my mother's birthdate. We decided to celebrate it at Racks in SM Mall of Asia. But before that we (Ason and I) had a spa treatment at Wensha with two of our S-IK friends. As much as our budget allows it, we try to indulge ourselves with spa treatment every now and then.
@ Wensha
After receiving our magentic locker bracelet, Tootsie and I went straight to the girls spa area. Since it was so hot that day, we decided to dip in the cold pool instead of the hot jacuzzi. We exchanged a few chikas, saving some later with maan who will join us for coffee. A few minutes after the dip, both of us felt chilly already so we went to the sauna next. I must say I have been to that sauna everytime but that time the temp inside was so high. We only lasted about 5 minutes because we couldn't take that much heat! Baka matusta na kami *LOL* Then, we hurried to the body massage area. That was one good massage! The pressure was just right for me, no complaints whatsoever. The ladies who gave us the massage asked us if we would like to rest for a while. We said no because we thought the boys were already waiting for us at the dining area. Surprisingly, we did not find them. After dressing up, we searched for them at the dining area. They also just had finished their massage. They went to eat first before they had their massage that's why we finished the treatment at almost the same time.
@SM Mall of Asia
After the spa treatment, we went straight to SM Mall of Asia. My family was already waiting for me at Racks. Before I joined them we had to meet with maan first. The dinner was long but fun. My cute nephew was there, plus my parents closest friends.

Dinner was over so I joined my S-IK friends again for coffee. Starbucks was packed with people when we got there. We tried to find a space where we could do Iah's scrapbook (which was one of the agenda that evening), preferably on their soft, comfy chairs but everything was occupied. So we had to squeeze ourselves on the tiny table and space available. Then we were joined by Wilson and Kuya Jun. Since BF had to go back to the resto, he invited us to continue our chikahans there so he can supervise his employees.

By 1AM, we decided to go home. Tootsie and Kuya Jun resides in Carmona and they still had to drop maan and me off. It's been a while since we've seen each other. Hopefully, it won't be too long 'til our next chika session....

Best? I think worst.

You might be wondering what I'm talking about. Well, let me fill you in.

I have been an avid fan of harry potter since college. It was one of my barkada who introduced me to the book. We were curious with what she was reading then so she lend the book to us. Since then I was hooked! I still remember when we (me and my barkada) watched the first movie at SM Manila. We watched it for three times! The one viewing thing was not in at the time. You can watch any movie from the first viewing until the last full show. Plus, it was sort of like the continuation of our class because most of my classmates were there.

I have read up to the sixth book "the half blood prince." I even have the book. It wasn't mine really, it was my boss's. I asked him if I could have it since he also have the japanese version, a remembrance from him when he left the Philippines. I haven't read the last book. I have a copy of the ebook though, but I find it annoying to have to read it on a computer. I'll have to find a way to read it before the movie is shown.

Enough of the story on how I was hooked with harry. I'm here to criticize the movie.

I have seen on a poster ( I think) of the movie Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince that it was the best Potter movie. Umm, duh?! It's so not! I have been warned by a friend of mine that I would just be wasting my money if I watched it on the big screen. Well, I had to see it for myself. And what do you know, my friend wasn't lying! They went overboard with the compression of the book into a movie. It became boring and senseless. I heard they're going to make the last book into a two part movie. I hope, they'll exert all their efforts into making this one the best of Harry Potter movies. We don't want to be disappointed for the last time..:))

Tested Positive

Newborn screening is now being performed to babies immediately after birth. Just to make sure the baby is healthy and also to prepare the parents in case of positive results.

Yesterday was my nephew's schedule for another vaccine. It was also when my sister got the result for his newborn screen tests (my sister forgot about it). She was surprised to find out that Miguel tested positive for glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency! The doctor suggested that they take him to the National Institute for Health to have a confirmatory test. Most of the babies with this condition tested negative on the confirmatory test. We will not know the result 'til July 17. We all hope and pray that the test result will be negative. If he tested positive, he couldn't take drugs with oxidizing agents as this will cause him to have a certain type of anemia.

We are all scared but at the same time thankful that we had found his condition sooner.

The need to work

I've been out of work since June. My review for the board exam I have to say is stagnant. I really have difficulty studying! I think I needed more time. But I will still continue my review and absorb as much information as my little brain can. Hopefully, the time I have left is enough.

Meanwhile, I need to prepare things needed for job application. Updated resume, latest photo and wardrobe. I'll start to look for work on Monday. Being out of work means no compensation. No compensation means that I can't do things that require finances. Like my photography hobby.

I know how important a license is to a chemistry graduate like me. I will get it, trust me I will, I'm just not sure when.....

Short Term Memory Loss

A month has passed since I was out of work. I should have finished my General Chemistry Book, but as of now I'm still at chapter 7. Aside from Laziness attacks, I have difficulty remembering things I have just read. It's so frustrating! It all started after my operation when I was in college. I chose to have general anesthesia so I would be asleep during the operation. After that I started experiencing short term memory loss. I blamed it for failing in Physical Chemistry 3. The reason why I wasn't able to graduate on time.

I really wanted to pass the board exam this time, hopefully 2 months would be enough because that's all the time I have left.

I did a little research on the causes of memory loss and how to deal with it.

Some of these causes can be:

• Blood Sugar

The irregular eating habits of people in the present modern age often causes people to starve themselves, thus leading to instable levels of blood sugar. Brains of people with low blood sugar levels gets groggy and sleepy leading to short term memory loss.

• Hormonal Havoc

Hormonal imbalance also leads to short term memory loss. During menopause, memory loss symptoms are often seen.

• Drinking and Depression Medications

Lots of people these days suffer from depression which is another cause of short term memory loss. People taking depression medications, as well as those involved in intake of excessive alcohol and recreational drug abuse, often face the problem of memory loss.

Natural Treatments

Depending upon the cause of memory loss, short term memory loss can be treated using mental exercises, herbal supplements, certain drugs as well as adopting a healthier lifestyle.

The most important thing is to keep your body as well as mind active to ensure proper blood circulation. Don't fall prey to the contemporary sedentary lifestyle and remain active in mind as well as body.

I can't let this stop me from taking the board exam. I'm scared but I have to face it and fight it.

FFPF Graduation

Before blogging about my graduation at FPPF, I would like first to share what happened during the other weeks of my workshop in basic photography.

On the third day of our class, we weren't able to present our assigment from Prof. Angeles because of her abscence. Instead, we got an hour lecture from Sir Vic Sison regarding proper posing. It was supposed to be a half day lecture but since he was also needed in the advance class, the lecture was shortened to an hour long only. Despite the short time, we have learned so much. How to pose women from men, observations during shoots and a few tips when shooting weddings. These were discussed for only an HOUR! Afterwhich the floor was given to Sir Joey Tañeda who gave us a lecture (which to me was a little boring) about the history of photography, how it all started. I think we we're dismissed early that day.

On the morning of our fourth day of class, I was really anxious because the master of portraiture Sir Toch Arellano will be the one to give the lecture. But, we received a very sad and shocking news. He passed away that day, I think due to heart attack. They told us he was in coma for four days. We were assured though that they will provide us another lecturer for portraiture.

We were surprised to see Prof Angeles there. I thought she had forgotten about our group assignment. We were asked to shoot inside Fort Santiago and we have to show what we've learned from her lecture in composition. My group ( Aperture) was not worried with the assigment. We were more worried with our cheer. Luckily, we were to present last and so we were able to come up with a cheer. My groupmate, Darrin, who is an Australian, composed a song. He said our cheer was baduy. *LOL* We didn't expect he knew that word. Our speaker of the house was Bam. She was amazing! She was very animated when she was explaining our pictures, Everyone was awed..*LOL* Who could have known a 15 year old can do that!

Our group presenting our assigment.

During the afternoon, we were taught by Sir Ador Pamintuan about natural light and studio light. He was the one assigned to replace Sir Toch Arellano. We had a blast during this lecture! Aside from learning lots, it was bonding time for the class.

My Groupmates

Graduation Day

We were asked to submit an 8x10 sized picture of our entry for the contest in environmental portrait and still life categories. I had a lot of choices for environmental portrait. A labtech, student, physical therapist and the one I chose was the forklift operator. I liked it because of the expression on his face and the shadowing. Only half of his face was lighted. In still life, I had a hard time and got so frustrated. I originally chose a figurine of two pigs who got married but when I had it printed it was a disaster. In the end I chose not to pass my still life entry.

When I got to fort santiago, mang boy asked us to pass our entries. It will serve as our attendance and proof that we have fulfilled all the requirements to qualify for graduation. I immediately called home and asked my brother to print another still life picture because it will be so humiliating to pass the married pigs *LOL*. He got there on time so I was qualified to become a graduate, whew!

All entries for the two categories were posted on the board. They invited a few colleagues to act as judges. The votes were casted and tallied and what do you know, my environmental portrait was chosen as one of the 10 finalists. I was already contented to be a finalist but the judges thought better and awarded me fifth place! I received a huge medal. I was so happy!!!

I won 5th place on Envi Potrait

Finalists for Environmental Portrait Category

Finalists for Still life category

After the awarding, FPPF prepared a little snack for us. Then they gave us our certificate of completion. We were officially graduates of Basic Photography.

The day hasn't ended yet. We went to harbor square and had a few drinks to celebrate. A few of our professors celebrated with us.

Our Professors

Some of the boys

I never expected that I would have this much fun with the class. Aside from learning a lot about photography I also gained a lot of friends. Our batch created a website, I'll post about it in a few days. It's our own little way of keeping the group intact.

To Follow

There are a lot of things I want to blog about. One of which is my graduation at FPPF. The problem is, I still haven't finished uploading pictures on the PC. I am also starting OFFICIALLY my review so I really needed the time to concentrate on that. I'll do other stuffs like blogging, scrapping and taking pictures during my breaks. Hopefully, I won't be tired then...

Bitten

I'm still in pain right now, due to the 2 anti-tetanus shots and 2 anti-rabbies shots I had yesterday. It's because of that damn cat last Sunday at Fort Santiago.

Here's the story...

After our lunch last Sunday, one of my classmates in FPPF suggested that we take our group picture. I was standing under the shade when all of a sudden a cat bit me. I didn't even notice it was there. I don't know if I stepped on it. I was shocked! When I checked the wound it wasn't that bad, it didn't bleed so I ignored it because I wa enjoying our photography class.

By the time I got home and told my parents about it they immediately told me to go to the animal bite center near our place. It was a Sunday so I had to wait until the next day to go there.

I informed my boss what happened to me, and that I won't be reporting for work that day. I was accompanied by my father. When we got to the center they told us that they ran out of the anti-rabbies vaccine so they referred us to Pasay General Hospital. Aside from the anti-rabbies vaccine they had to give me an anti-tetanus vaccine as well. The anti-rabbies shots ( 2 shots) were injected on my back. The anti-tetanus shots which were really painful were injected on both arms. In fairness, there was no fever, only pain.

I still have 3 more shots of the vaccine. The second one I had today. Next, on Monday and the last one next month. I'm telling you, getting bitten by an animal is really expensive.

Zaiah's Invitation

My kinakapatid's daughter will be baptized and I was requested to become one of the Godmothers. Since my photography workshop is still ongoing, I was hoping that the event will happen on a Saturday so I can attend. Last Tuesday, I received a text message informing me that the baptism will be on May 24. I checked the calendar and it was a Sunday. Rodney (my kinakapatid) explained that he went to 3 churches already and all of them said that they only baptize on Sundays. That Sunday will be our graduation so I really can't miss it.

Yesterday, as Rodney and I were talking I told him that he should have scheduled it on May 31 so I can attend and at the same time offer my services as the photographer of the event. He was actually thinking of the same thing. Kahit ung mga pictures na lang daw ang iregalo ko. The next thing I know he was calling the church and had the date moved to May 31. Kakahiya sobra so in return I offer to make Zaiah an invitation and here's what I made for her.

I was kinda not satisfied with the first one because it looks like an invitation for a birthday party so I made another one.

Photography Class Day 2

I don't know if i'm overly excited but I arrived at Fort Santiago before 8 o'clock in the morning. I really don't want to be late. I also planned to transfer my notes to a new notebook (the first notebook I had kasi was a kiddie notebook I bought at 7 11 *LOL*). When I came to Fort Santiago there was no one there but the lights and the electric fan at the gallery were open. It was the schedule of the Pacquiao-Hatton fight so I thought our class was postponed. I waited. Around 8:15 one classmate of mine arrived. I asked him if he had completed our assignments because I wasn't able to. He showed me his work and they were actually pretty good.

Before our class started with a new professor, One person from FPPF (sorry I forgot his name, will mention it on my next post) gave us a brief recap of what we've learned from the previous lesson. He also instructed us to submit our best photo among our assignments. I really don't know which one to pass. I settled on this one.

Texture

When Prof. Angeles entered the room, the first thought I had was "Mukhang terror ang prof namin. " Eventually that first impression didn't last. Despite her terror look, she tried to be funny and be a little more entertaining. She asked us one by one to vote for the best and needs improvement photo among the photos posted on the board. The winning photographer will have the chance to print his best photo on a mug, his/her photo can also be included if he/she wants to. One by one we voted. I was worried that my photo will get the most number of x's. Luckily, the voting ended without my photo neither having an x mark nor a check mark. But, Prof. Angeles did mention that she liked my photo as well as two other photos. I think she has a thing with abstract photos.

Prof. Angeles criticizing our work.

My best photo winner

My needs improvement photo winner

When classes resumed after lunch Prof. Angeles showed us a slide show of her trip to Babuyan Island. Each picture has a story. It would have been nice if the projector was working properly. All we see is black and white, no colors *LOL*. Before her lecture about composition she made us sing this hymn in photography that she wrote years ago. It was actually easy to learn and she was so happy that we were able to sing it well. I hope she won't ask us to sing one by one 'coz I kinda forgotten the melody of a few lines *LOL*.

For our next assignment we were asked to shoot inside fort santiago. Taking into consideration of course our lesson in composition. We were grouped by 8, aside from the photos from each member we were also asked to prepare a cheer. Yikes! I hope they'll come up with a good cheer even though most of my teammates were male.

Little Dreamer

I am constantly visiting Chikai and Buge's blog to check out the latest freebies in digital scrapbooking. Even though i'm not that active in scrapbooking because i've been very busy lately, I make sure I download digi kits that I like so that by the time my mojo kicks in there's something that I could use.

Our computer at home is very slow compared to what I use in the office so I do my downloading there (secretly *LOL*). Good thing they did not block any digital scrapbooking sites or else I would miss a lot of freebies. Due to the recent National Scrabook day, a lot of great designers posted their digi kits for free download. I had discovered this great site which features a lot freebies, you can check it out here.
Here are the LOs I made using two kits I downloaded. Featured in this LOs is my very cute nephew Miguel Carlisle.

Photography Class Day 1

After 2 months of waiting, I was finally able to attend my first day of basic photography at FPPF. I was so excited. I woke up at 6 in the morning preparing my things and worrying because I forgot to photocopy my sales invoice. It was supposed to be a requirement. When I came to Intramuros, I looked for a photocopying machine before heading to FPPF office.

When I got there I found out that our class will be held inside Fort Santiago, so off I went.

We were briefed by sir boy regarding what to expect on our basic photography class. He also mentioned the five professors who will introduce us to the amazing world of photography.

Our first professor was Sir Ador Pamintuan. He taught us how to use our cameras. From dials, buttons, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, etc. We were very active the whole day. It seemed all of us were amazed on how much our cameras can do. It's usually in auto mode *LOL*.

Lecture with Sir Ado Pamintuan

Tried the panning technique but to no success

During class

By the end of the lesson, we were given 10 assignments. 10!

2. Deep depth of field

3. Motion blur

4. Motion freeze

5. Close-up

6. Patterns

7. Texture

8. Shapes

9. White on white

10. Black on black

Even before leaving I was already thinking of what subjects to choose, how I can achieve it and when can I shoot it.

Unfinished movie

I was going to open my yahoo mail when I stumbled upon a story featured on the homepage of yahoo. "Final Film Version Disputed." They were talking about the leaked unfinished Wolverine Movie. I happened to watch this version. At first it was funny because you can actually see the ropes attached to the actors while doing some stunts, the computer generated action scenes and raw special effects. But, come to think of it, it was a major disaster for the producers. A nightmare come to life. It was expected to become a blockbuster but that just won't happen now. I hope they catch the person responsible for doing this.

The Last of S-IK

It's been over a month now since my last post. A lot of things had happened. I never got to share what we've gone thru on judgement day. I hope I can still remember everything.

February 27,2009
We went to work as usual but the difference of this day was that we we were expecting something bad will happen (There were a lot of signs already). Upon arrival at the plant, we were surprised to see a lot of security guards positioned on different parts of the plant. There were also unfamiliar cars parked inside. I went inside QC room and found my boss with swollen red eyes. She had been crying the whole night thinking. We tried to comfort her, telling her that everything will be alright.
Around 9:00 AM, everybody was asked to proceed to the conference room. When we got there (QC people), the long table was placed in front of the room with chairs facing the employees. Then came the management along with the company's lawyers.

Our President stood up, and told us that the mother company decided that they will close down S-IK Philippines for good. There were two reasons. First was due to low production quantity and the second was because of customs. Everyone was silenced. Some were crying. Then, our HR Manager explained that the company was generous enough to give us a 1.5% separation pay (Normally, you will only receive half of your salary for every year of service.). We were called one by one, talked to a lawyer, received our checques afterwhich we gathered our personal belongings and off we go. Nobody was allowed to stay too long, they provided a shuttle service to which brought employees home. As for us, BF asked his brother to pick us up.
We were saddened by what happened but we really can't do anything about it. We need to move on, find better oppotunities.

March 1,2009

Wilson and I attended mass then had dinner. I guess he noticed how sad I was so he asked me why. I told him that I still had a lot of things left to do in the office, and leaving it just like that felt wrong. That was when he told me that they were asked to come back again to finish their work. On QC side, it was my boss and emee who were called. Ok na rin for me at least we could finish our pending work.
March 2, 2009

I asked Wilson to inform me whatever will happen that day. The management spoke to them one by one regarding the salary that they will receive and the how long their service will be needed. As for Wilson, of course I don't how much he's salary was but he did not complain, so I guess he's satisfied with the offer. His contract is up to April 30,2009. I asked about our dept., he was so amazed with emee. She did not sign the contract unless there was another QC staff that will work with her. I tell you, we have a lot of work, one person will go mad trying to finish everything. That was when they asked me.

March 3, 2009

There was no other choice except me. All the other QC staff were unavailable already. When the management talked to me they said that they cannot provide a service car for me. They really need me so what they did was they adjust my time. I can go home by 4 and they will give me transportation allowance. I signed the contract, which will end on April 30, 2009.

Judgement day

The company I work with is in danger right now. Aside from having low production due to recession we also encounter problems with customs. There were a lot of speculations over the past few days. We already had a meeting before and the management promised that they will inform us about the status of the company. We were supposed to have the meeting last Feb. 10, but due to unknown reasons it was postponed.

During the first meeting, the management was informed that there were some employees that would like to voluntarily resign as along as they would make them a good offer.

Today, there were more chismis in the office.

1. S-IK employees from our Makati office will be going to the Laguna plant tomorrow. (Considering we don't have work during fridays)

2. They have ordered a meal at Max's Restaurant for all employees. (Farewell party?)

3. There was a note on the planner of our Japanese boss that they have scheduled the date for the announcement.

4. There was going to be a general meeting, all employees included. (The memo was posted past 4 this afternoon.

BF and I will be meeting later to talk and plan things. If ever closure is the last resort, we all hope that the company would be generous with regards to our separation pay.

Stay at home

I'm staying home today. Since last week our work days have been cut off to four days only. This is due to low production and our problem with the importation of materials. I wasn't able to plan anything for today so I will just be staying home.

I started the day by fixing our bed and cleaning our room. I also washed the dishes (The chore i hated doing the most). Now, i'm eating my lunch. Chowking halo-halo and Braised beef. Perfect for the heat! Next thing to do? Arrange my clothes in my cabinet. It's so gulo!

a sigh of relief

I've been so worried this past few weeks because of delayed schedule of my period. I was supposed to have my period around the 4th week of January but it never came. Not that I was expecting pregnancy as the cause of delay, of course not! I had delayed periods before but not this long.

This morning I felt a pain in my abdomen and thought it was only a need to flush out a few human wastes. I was surprised to see that my visitor that I've been waiting for so long has arrived. I never felt so relieved in my life. Last night before I went to sleep I was praying that if my period will arrive, meaning that everything in me is normal, I will take my board exam review seriously. I will of course after the pain go away.

I have thought of so many reasons why i'm delayed. Miscalculation, stress, and the worst, I might have a tumor or something preventing my period. But I came to the conclusion that I just might be so stressed out because I actually am. I've been thinking about a lot of things. The future mostly. Now that I feel normal again because of my period I will have to relax and just go with the flow. To stop stressing out. Of course I need to thank God later for the good news he had given me today.

Photography Lesson

I have already scheduled my free workshop at Canon, but I still have to wait until April. A good friend of mine, Sir Orville, offered to give me a few lessons in photography just so I could have an idea on what to do and expect during the workshop.
We did the lesson at Huey Ying. Wilson also wanted to learn photography so he joined in the lecture. Sir Orville started by explaining about the different buttons and dials on the DSLR. He also pointed the three very important things that I should know about, ISO, Shutter Speed, and Aperture. After the lecture it's time to take shots. The first thing he asked me to try was a trick shot with lights. We positioned ourselves near a post on the street, adjusted the settings of the camera and away we shoot!

This was supposed to look like a circle *LOL*.

I did this by rotating the lens while capturing the image

The panning effect

We also did another lesson yesterday at Glorietta. Portrait was our lesson. I don't think we were really that successful with the lesson because our models, one in particular, was uncooperative. She was laughing the whole time but I still was able to get a perfect shot of her. Here are some of our pictures.

Beh!

It took me a lot of shots before I got this one

After this we had dinner at Sbarro c/o Sir Orville. He went home with Mam Winnie afterwards while the rest of us watched a movie.

Something borrowed

Eversince I got hold of my DSLR camera, I've been wanting to learn more about photography. One of my friends who also bought a DSLR already attended the free workshop. He's willing to give me free lessons and share his knowledge about photography, so by the time I will have my workshop I know the basics na.

Photography is really a very expensive hobby. I mentioned to Sir Orville that I don't even have my tripod and camera bag yet. I was surprised when he told me he would lend me his spare camera bag and tripod. He already have lots of gears so he bought a bigger camera bag. I was so happy and thankful! I don't know when I will get my cam bag from my aunt. Maybe this summer when she comes here for a vacation.

Now that I have the basic gears, we have scheduled the photography lesson on friday. I learn about portraits.

I'm so excited na....

Got through at last!

Photography is a very expensive hobby. To be able to capture great photos you need to know how to use your camera, a DSLR to be exact. When i bought my DSLR, it came with a free workshop. I haven't really paid attention to it until a friend of mine attended the workshop. You can actually see the difference from the shots he took before and after the workshop. The training center which gave them the seminar was PCCI. I called canon several times, it's only this afternoon that I got through the line. I was surprised to find out that I will be attending the workshop at a different trainer center, at FPPF. It will be a 5 session course, sundays from April 26 to May 24. I'm very excited but I still want to try if they will have another schedule with PCCI, mas konti daw kasi ang enrolled dito compared with FPPF kaya mas tutok sa mga students. Whichever training center will be fine with me as long as I learn the basics of photography.

Renting

Our PC at home was shutting down on its own. We had to bring it to a computer shop near our house to get it fixed. We also requested for an upgrade. Hopefully, it won't take long. Sayang naman ang aming broadband..hehe..

Baby Stuff for Baby Migs

My sister is due to give birth this February. One month to go before we welcome a new member in our family. He will be named Miguel Carlisle Angeles. The name Carlisle was actually taken from a character in the movie Twilight. He's the father of Edward Cullen. (Adik sa Twilight, I should say *LOL*).

In preparation for his coming, my sister and her hubby already bought a few things for him. As a soon to be godmother of Migs, I also bought a onesies and a pair of socks. As a gift for my sister naman, my sister Delai and I bought her a baby couture bag so eventhough she's carrying baby stuff she'd still look cool and stylish.

garments for the baby: onesies, hooded blankets, socks, booties, etc.

More baby stuff: Nappy clamps, diaper pins, bottles, bath essentials, pacifier, baby wipes, etc.

It's been a long time since we have a baby in our family so everyone's really excited. I for one can't wait!

One good day turned bad

I accompanied BF last saturday to Subic to visit one of our customers. We left Manila at around 7:20 AM. This was the first time we went to Subic on a weekend. Normally, travel time would be 3 hrs but eversince the SCTEx was opened, travel time was shortened to 2 hrs. only. It was farther than the normal route to Subic but at least we got there in a jiffy.

look at the speedometer

It was still early for his appointment so we went for a little drive inside Subic. Our first destination was the beach. We wanted to get inside to take some pictures but the entrance was expensive. We're not going to spend too much there, so we had our little picture taking outside the resort instead. We still had the beach view naman. After that, we thought of going to Ocean Adventure. We were driving for 10 km already but we still hadn't reached our destination. It seemed that Ocean Adventure was on the far far end of the road. Then we passed by a sign going to Zoobic Safari. Sabi ko dun na lang. By the time we reached the arc to forest park adventure, it was already time for his appointment. So in short, we reached neither of the two of our supposed destinations. As soon as BF's meeting with our customer was finished, we head back to Manila.

we saw monkeys

This way to Zoobic Safari

We had our lunch at Kenny Rogers at a gasoline station in NLEX. We were supposed to eat in Manila but was stomach was protesting! Masamang nagugutom ang tiyan ko! *LOL*

After our Subic trip, we went to our favorite mall (SM Mall of Asia). Favorite, kasi un ang pinakamalapit sa resto ni BF kaya palagi kaming nandun. We had our merienda then we went our separate ways. He, to the store. Me, sa mall. There was a sale, as in mall wide! *LOL* I purchased a blouse and a pair of pants. I was about to go to the shoes section when I passed by Timex. Piolo and Angel were in MOA and was about to visit the Timex branch there. I happened to be in a spot where they were going to pass by. So I reached for my phone in my bag so I can take their picture only to find out that it was missing. I forgot about Piolo and Angel and quickly rushed to the last place I went to. The restroom. Nothing there. I also checked Milk and Co., the last shop I went to. I asked the sales ladies there if they saw my phone. Negative. I immediately called BF so he can contact my number. Hoping that the person who found it would be kind enough to return it to me. At first it was ringing and then the call was being cut off, until he can't reach it anymore. Huhuhu...It was my favorite phone! An SE K800i. What's worst was, I just loaded it with 300 pesos! I really did not know when and where I lost it.

All I can say is, Mahirap na talaga ang buhay ngayon. Konti nalang ang taong may mabuting kalooban. Hindi man lang ako nataon sa isa. Oh well...
