The Mist

This is one depressing movie...

A couple of days when I arrived home my family were watching a movie. I did not bother to watch the it since it was already the middle part when I arrived. I just went to the computer to check out a few stuff in the internet. Of course I couldn't help it, every once in a while I glance on the tv whenever I hear them scream.

The movie is entitled The Mist. It is based from the novel of Stephen King. Knowing the author you shouldn't expect a happy ending.

This is how the story goes...Please excuse my story telling ability *LOL*
There is this town where a a secret government laboratory is located. Something went wrong and the town was covered in mist (that's why it's the title). With the mist come big spiders and creatures (giant ones) that look like aliens, which of course kill people. Everyone died except for those people who were in the supermarket. The main character in the film and his son were one of those people. A man who works for the government and who knows about what is happening was also there but was later killed by the locals. This is the part of the movie wherein I lost my appetite. Seeing someone stabbed to death and was thrown to the creature really bothered me. Continuing with the story...The main character did not want to stay there any longer, he thought they have a bigger chance for survival if they leave. Joining him were a few people. When they were about to leave, they were stopped by the same people who killed the other guy. Ang gulo ko talaga magkwento. One lady who everyone seemed to follow (she's like a preacher) ordered that they need to sacrifice the son of the main character and one lady. They were carrying knives. Good thing one guy who joined the main character have a gun. He killed the lady preacher so they could get out. When they got out, this same guy was killed by the spiders. Luckily he left the gun for the MC (main character) to use. Only five of them got safely to the car.
Slowly, they went their way out of town. They passed by the MC's house where he saw his wife covered in spider's web. Unfortunately, they ran out of gas. They lost hope for survival, so they thought of commiting suicide. There are only 4 bullets in the gun and there are 5 of them. The MC killed everyone including his son and wait until the creatures come to take his life. Here comes the depressing part.. The MC screams for the creatures to come. He then heard a loud sound, expecting to see the creatures. Slowly the mist disappeared and he saw military tanks and soldiers. It was the rescue. He stood there shocked. The people who were left in the supermarket passed by him. All he could do is scream..Ang pangit nga niya sumigaw at umiyak e.

I don't understand why you would choose to take your life than to wait to see if rescue would come. On their way out of town they never encountered any creature. They already made it that far, WHY NOT WAIT!!! I really felt sad after I watched it. I may never watch a film based by a Stephen King novel..Sad...

Cebu B?

Every now and then Wilson visits our customers in Cebu to personally attend to their requests, demands and sometimes complaints. He's scheduled in Cebu this week. He left yesterday and will be scheduled to arrive here in Manila today. So, for the past few days I wake up at 5:00 in the morning just so that I could join the service in Makati. I was so tempted to take a leave of abscence but was able to suppress myself because I am opting for a perfect attendance this month. Sayang din ang 400 pesos *LOL*. As pampalubag loob, BF will have to buy me lots of pasalubong. His trip also serves as vacation for him. Not a time wander around Cebu but a time to get plenty of rest (sleep). He asked me if I wanted to join.

I miss him and I can't wait to see him later (hopefully).

Tagaytay Highlands

Holy week is not only a time for reflection. Holy week, for most people is a time to relax and unwind. This is the longest time we have out of work so Wilson decided to plan an adventure. The destination? Tagaytay Highlands. Tagaytay Higlands is an exclusive place, only members have an access to the place. But for those who are not that rich to own a lot or house there, there is another way to visit. If you know someone who is a member, they can get you a guest card which costs 2000. The 1800 is consumable. You can use it for a lot of activities that you can do inside.

Upon arrival, we met up with Ate Susan, Wilson's friend who got us the guest card. Then we ate breakfast at The Highland Golf and Country Club. The view from the golf course was spectacular. It was much more than what i expected. I never thought such a place exixts here in the Philippines. After our brunch (it was already 10:30) we rode the cable car to the sports center. There they have courts for basketball, badmnton, tennis. They also have an indoor pool, computer center and lots more.

From the sports center, we rode a shuttle (Toyota Grandia), which is totally free, to our next destination, Camp Highlands. They have swimming pools here. A big one and small mini pools which can really be private. Cottages were located near the mini pools. This was where we spent most of our time. What I really love about the place was the shower room is really very clean, there were toilet paper inside every cubicle they have hot and cold showers and most of all, towels were provided so there is no need to use the towel you brought.

It was already late in the afternoon but we still have time to stroll around the place before we head back to the golf club. Mas natakot ako when we were in the cable car going back to the golf club. Mas ramdam kasi na tumataas ka and I can't help but think that we might fall and die. Wala pa mandin si Wilson sa tabi ko. huhuhu..

It was already past 5 when we reached the golf club. Ason still wanted to show us the midlands. We'll take a ride first at the funicular (it was like a bus that will bring you to midlands). There was a viewing deck where you can see a very good view of the taal volcanoe. Since there was nothing much to see in the midlands, we decided not to go and head back home na. Sayang lang because we weren't able to ride the funicular.

All in all the experience was great. It's a once in a lifetime experience. It will a very long time before we can go back there again. Sulit ang lakad namin. I'm happy happy happy..

Enrolled

Six months to go before board exam. Honestly, I still have a lot to review. I have to study harder because it's been a long time since I opened a book about chemistry. On my own, as in self review, I don't think I will have a big chance on passing. So, I enrolled myself at brains review center. It's the same review center I attended before. Maybe if took my review seriously then, I would have passed the board exam the first time. Well, no time for blaming. I need to prove myself now. I need to make it this year. I have to sacrifice some of my interests (like digiscrapping, TV, even internet) just so that I can review more. I was really relieved to know that my boss understands my situation. He allowed me to take wednesdays and saturdays off to attend review school. It would be really embarassing and humiliating if I fail. I am always praying that God would make me more studious. To maximize my free time for my studies. This would be my self achievement. At this point, nothing would make me happier than to pass the board exam and be called a licensed chemist.

while waiting for a ride at UP Diliman

Last year, 97 chemists who were enrolled at Brains review center passed the licensure board exam. Hopefully, this year I will see my name on their list. Fingers crossed.

Girl Talk

Every once in while my officemates and former officemates go out to relax and dine. Since it's we just received our salary for the month, we did just that. This time we were all girls. Too bad Mam Winnie wasn't able to come. She was stuck in Pasig taking care of the title transfer for her car. Eventhough she was not there, we still went out. Me, Maan, Tootsie and Ate Eden.

We really had a good time. Talking about work, life, gossips, humors. Anything and evrything girls talk about. We even talk about heartaches. Something I hardly share to anyone. But I trust these girls. They are my friends. More like my sisters. I couldn't wait for our next night out. Girls night out.

Customized Desktop

I am currently bored. We don't have any production today, that's why I have a chance to blog...

We only have 3 PC in our department. One is for our QC Manager, the other one is for the rest of the QC staff (to make reports) and the last one is a very old computer which only have floppy disk drive. We use this just for reading colors using our spectrophotometer. You cannot rely on this one for reports. The conformation changes when you transfer it to a more high tech PC.

To make our PC more attractive and appealing, I made a customized desktop using one of scrapbook kits. This is what our desktop looks like.

The Target

Every year we come up with performance targets for every department. I was assigned to monitor the uncorrected colors for this year. Our target is to reach 50% of uncorrected colors of the total production for every month. So far, we are still above the target. We reached 60%. Our boss gave us a challenge. I f we maintain a 65%, he will treat us to Huey Ying. This has to be maintained for two months. If we reached 67% ( I had to negotiate for this one *LOL*), he will treat us to an Italian Restaurant at greenbelt. So, do I think we could reach that target? I think not..huhuhu..As of now we have a lot of colors with correction. Only those of black colors were uncorrected. But, as Team Ginebra woukd say, "Never Say Die." Hopefully on the upcoming months we'll be able to reach to target, so our kuripot boss would treat us *LOL.*

By the way, if you are wondering what I am talking about. I am working for a coloring company for plastics. We add pigments to natural resins, to whatever color the customer desires. We develop the colors you see in washing machines, aircons, toys, etc. So my eyes are pretty much sensitive to colors. I can detect even the smallest difference in colors. It took years of experience and practice, I must say.
